Homa Medical Laboratory Online Booking System

Homa is a medical laboratory booking system for a diagnostic lab — the one project here that sells no goods at all, only services. The client had the laboratory and the staff. What they lacked was a system that shortened the reception queue and delivered results safely.

The problem

Booking by phone costs twice: reception staff time, and patients who arrive to a closed door because the time they were given does not match real capacity. The lab works mornings and late afternoons and closes in between; any system that treats the day as one continuous block hands out slots when nobody is there.

Result delivery was the second problem. The common "national ID plus tracking code" pattern means anyone holding two numbers printed on a slip can reach another person's health data.

What we built

Booking became a four-step wizard: choose tests, enter patient details, pick a time, confirm. Open slots are read from the real booking calendar, and the morning and afternoon windows are defined separately, so no hour is ever offered while the lab is closed.

Results are visible only inside the patient's own account; the public page shows a clearly labelled sample, never real data. Each value sits beside the reference range recorded when it was issued, because a lab's reference ranges change when its kits change.

The outcome

Patients book without calling, see only hours that genuinely have capacity, and read results somewhere only they can reach. Tests are published as structured data (schema.org/MedicalTest) so they render correctly in search results.

What was delivered

Twenty-three tests and services were loaded across seven categories, and eight content pages were written: preparation guide, at-home sampling, how to read your result, quality control and licensing, plus terms, privacy, about and contact.

Three sampling specialists were registered, each attached only to the service they genuinely provide, so mobile sampling is never offered by a specialist who does not travel. One visit is one appointment, even when five tests have been selected.

Guest checkout, reviews and the wishlist were deliberately left switched off. In a medical laboratory booking system, any feature that brings health data within reach of someone without an account is a risk rather than a convenience.

An admin panel for appointments, patients, services and reports was delivered, and both the opening hours and the capacity of each slot are configured from it.
