Rasan Kurdish Women's Clothing and Fabric Store

Rasan is an online kurdish fabric store: fabric sold by the cut, ready-to-wear garments, and components from waist sashes to caps. The client ran a fabric counter and knew their buyers well. What they lacked was a storefront that understood how this trade actually sells.

The problem

Fabric here is not sold by the metre. It is sold by the cut, and a cut is not a fixed number: the length depends on the garment model and the fabric width. Any generic store that asks for metres hands the arithmetic, and the risk of getting it wrong, to the customer.

Naming was the second problem. One item carries several regional names, and a shopper outside the region types a third name entirely. Plain text search treated all of them as unrelated products.

What we built

On each fabric page the shopper picks a garment model and a fabric width, then sees the required cut length and the final price in place. The calculation runs on the server and the price is read from that specific variant row, never assembled in the browser.

Made-to-measure became its own flow: six models, four embroidery options and two delivery speeds, every combination carrying its own quoted price. Body measurements are stored on the account, so a second order does not ask the same questions again.

The outcome

Shoppers no longer calculate lengths themselves or need the exact name of an item. The interface is right-to-left throughout and was tested against the Kurdish Sorani alphabet — the care that W3C guidance on text direction calls for in these scripts.

What was delivered

The catalogue went live with 21 items across 142 variants: fabric by the cut, ready-to-wear garments, garment components and the tailoring fee. Eight content pages were written — fabric guide, size guide, returns policy and the rest — alongside a full admin panel.

No price is ever calculated in the browser. Cut lengths and the price of each combination are built before the page renders, and the browser only picks between them. That boundary is what keeps a tampered number out of the invoice.

The returns rule was written plainly too: cut and sewn fabric cannot come back, ready-to-wear can within seven days. For a kurdish fabric store that single sentence prevents a phone conversation almost every day.
